Providing Independent Mental Health Advocacy (4 taught days) Unit 306

This module has been designed to support candidates who want to undertake the role of Independent Mental Health Advocate. This unit meets the statutory requirements within English and Welsh legislation which requires IMHAs to complete approved training.

The unit concentrates on the following areas:

  • the IMHA role
  • the patients journey
  • mental health legislation
  • the mental health system
  • IMHA in practice including practice dilemmas
  • Providing IMHA to people with diverse needs
  • Providing IMHA to children and young people

This unit is relevant if you are intending to provide IMHA support or wish to learn more about the IMHA role.
