Providing Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (4 taught days) Unit 305

This module has been designed to support candidates who want to undertake the role of Independent Mental Capacity Advocate. This unit meets the statutory requirements within English and Welsh legislation which requires IMCAs to complete approved training.

The unit concentrates on the following areas:

  • the IMCA role
  • taking instruction
  • working with decision makers
  • supporting and representing the person
  • SMT decisions
  • Accommodation and review decisions
  • Adult protection
  • Working with others

You should complete this unit if you are intending to provide IMCA support or wish to learn more about the IMCA role.
