Conversion Course - Providing IMCA: Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (1 taught day) Unit 310

Have you completed the Department of Health approved IMCA DOLS course?
Do you want to convert that course to the IMCA DOLS qualification module?

In order to achieve the qualifications in independent advocacy specialist IMCA DOLS module, you will need to submit a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates your practical IMCA skills.  A number of 1 day IMCA DOLS ‘conversion’ courses are being held to support existing IMCAs through this process of assessment .  The course explains the assessment process and offers support to create successful portfolios.

This module has been designed to support candidates who want to undertake the role of a DOLS Independent Mental Capacity Advocate. This unit meets the statutory requirements within English and Welsh legislation which requires DOLS IMCAs to complete approved training.

The unit concentrates on the following areas:

  • the IMCA DOLS role
  • when to instruct DOLS
  • writing IMCA DOLS written reports
  • challenging decisions
