Providing Effective Independent Advocacy Support (2 taught days) Unit 302
Providing effective independent advocacy support is the goal of all advocates who want to make a difference to the person they are supporting and advocating with/for. This module looks at the practicalities of offering advocacy support and explores the key roles and processes within independent advocacy.
The module aims to develop a sophisticated understanding of the threats to advocacy and the dilemmas encountered in practice and will help you develop strategies, skills and the confidence to resolve challenges such as when to use the organisation's confidentiality and other key policies and maintaining independence.
The module also addresses practical strategies to ensure effective outcomes for the person wanting advocacy support and helps learners to remain client led.
You should complete this module if you want to learn more about how to be an advocate and how to resolve dilemmas faced in practice.
You should also complete this module if you are an experienced advocate and want to gain recognition for the skills and knowledge you use on an everyday basis.
