Independent Advocacy Management   25 Jun 10

We have now added an Independent  Advocacy Management course to the training calendar.
 
The course will run on 19th to 22nd October 2010 in Birmingham


IMHA Course added in Manchester   17 Jun 10

For the first time we will be delivering a course in Manchester.
 
The IMHA course is on 19th to 22nd October 2010 and we hope this to be one of many courses that will be run in the North of England

You might be interested in our fast track qualification…

 

We offer a range of advocacy courses and have been delivering qualifications since March 09.  So far we have supported over 350 advocates begin their journey in achieving the qualification and over 99% of our learners would recommend our courses to other advocates. We would love to welcome you to our centre.

 

The fast track course is a 3 day taught course which addresses the four mandatory units in Independent Advocacy (Unit 301, 302, 303 and 304). Our approach is not to teach you advocacy but to support you to reflect and hone your practical advocacy skills – whilst achieving an accredited and recognised qualification.

 

Following the 3 day taught course, you will be assigned an individual assessor who will visit you at your workplace to support and assess your portfolio. You will receive support and guidance from our team of tutors and assessors who all come from within the advocacy sector.  The training team have either delivered or received advocacy support and understand the challenges of maintaining high standards when walking the advocacy path.

 

To complete the full Certificate you will also need to complete any one of the following specialist units: 

 

305 Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy

306 Independent Mental Health Advocacy

307 Independent Advocacy Management

308 Providing Independent Advocacy to Adults

309 Independent Advocacy with Children and Young People

310 Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy – Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

 

The Diploma is achieved by completing the 4 mandatory units plus units 305 and 310.

 

This course is only open to advocates who have been providing advocacy support for a minimum of 12 months, have completed previous advocacy training or have completed a minimum of 1000 hours advocacy practice.

Fast track Certificate

(four mandatory PLUS one optional specialist unit)                               £1510

Fast track Diploma (four mandatory PLUS units 305 and 310)             £1610

 

We also run conversion courses for learners who have completed DH approved IMHA and IMCA courses.

QCA Approval Confirmed   02 Mar 09

We are delighted to confirm that the qualifications in independent advocacy have been formally approved by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and are full, nationally recognised, qualifications.

Changes to the Qualifications in Independent Advocacy   10 Feb 09

It was previously published on this website that City and Guilds would issue a qualification on any of the core or specialist modules available.
 
This has now been revised as follows:
 
By completing any one unit the learner will achieve a Certificate of Unit Credit (CUC).

By completing all 4 core units (in any order) PLUS one Specialist unit, the learner will achieve the Certificate in Independent Advocacy qualification at Level 3 of the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
